I hope you’re all doing well! This week at SpockSoc we’ll be continuing with Season Four of Warehouse 13.
Week 11: Primeval: New World
Primeval: New World follows the Special Projects Group of Cross Photonics, a team of animal experts and scientists led by visionary inventor Evan Cross, as they investigate the Anomalies, disturbances in space and time that bring creatures from the past forward into the present. The team attempts to combat the creatures which come through, and send them back before they alter the course of history.
Same plan as always- 5:00 at ChemSci M18, pizza at 7.
See you there!

Week 10: Game of Thrones
I sincerely doubt that anyone needs a summary. However, if you haven’t seen Season One and Two I’d suggest a detailed summary somewhere on on Wikipedia or the Game of Thrones wiki- if I were to try to recap it here, we’d be here for a very long time!

Week 9: Haven
When FBI Special Agent Audrey Parker (Emily Rose) arrives in the small town of Haven, Maine, on a routine case, she soon finds herself increasingly involved in the return of The Troubles, a plague of supernatural afflictions that occurred in the town at least once before. With an openness to the possibility of the paranormal, she also finds a more personal link in Haven that may lead her to the mother she has never known.
Parker begins to realize that her arrival in Haven may have been planned and that her name and even her memories may not be her own. As the series progresses, she learns more about the mystery of both Haven and her true identity. She and her partner Nathan Wuornos find themselves frequently facing problems caused by both the effects of the Troubles, as well as town folk who take more drastic measures against the Troubled.
Week 8: Once Upon A Time
The story is set in the fictional small town of Storybrooke, Maine. The town is populated by characters from fairy tales, who have been exiled to the real world due to a curse cast by the Evil Queen as part of a revenge plot against Snow White and Prince Charming. Because of the curse, most of the inhabitants of Storybrooke have no memory of their true identities and have been stuck timelessly in Storybrooke for years.
The plan is the same as always- we’ll be meeting in ChemSci M18 at 5, and sending the pizza list around about 7 or so.
I hope to see you all there!

Week 6: Revolution
Revolution takes place in a post-apocalyptic future. Fifteen years earlier, the US developed nano-machines which were capable of nullifying electricity. After deployment, the nano-machines spread quickly out of control worldwide and effectively disabled all electricity on Earth within a single night. People were forced to adapt to a world without electricity over the next fifteen years. Due to the collapse of government and public order, many areas are now ruled by warlords and militias. The series follows the surviving Matheson family: Ben, Charlie, and Danny, now living near what used to be Chicago.
As always, we’ll be meeting at ChemSci M18 at 5 and sending around the pizza list a little after 7.
I hope to see you all there!

Week 6: Arrow
The series follows Oliver Queen, billionaire playboy of Starling City, who spends five years stranded on an island following a shipwreck that claims the life of everyone else on board, including his father. Upon his return to Starling City, he is reunited with his mother, Moira, and her new husband, Walter, the former CFO of his father’s company who is now the CEO. During the day, Oliver plays the billionaire playboy; at night, he becomes a green-hooded vigilante, following through with his father’s dying wishes to right the wrongs of the Queen family, fight the ills of society, and restore Starling City to its former glory.
As usual, we’ll be kicking things off about 5:00 at ChemSci M18, and going for a pizza run about 7:00.
Also, as a quick reminder- this Sunday is the second meeting of the SpockSoc Book Club! This time, we’ll be reading Altered Carbon by Richard K. Morgan. The discussion will start at 6:30 PM this Sunday, and will take place on the SpockSoc Facebook page. Be sure to drop by and share your thoughts!
Have a good week, and I hope to see you all there!

Mid-Session: Alphas
I hope you all had a great Easter, and are enjoying a well-earned break. This week at SpockSoc we’ll be screening the final six episodes of Alphas.
The series follows five people with superhuman abilities, known as “Alphas”, led by noted neurologist and psychiatrist Dr. Lee Rosen (David Strathairn), as they investigate criminal cases involving other suspected Alphas. Rosen and his team operate under the auspices of the Defense Criminal Investigative Service, the criminal investigative arm of the U.S. Department of Defense. While investigating these crimes, it does not take the team too long to discover that a group known as “Red Flag”, which was thought defeated and eliminated long ago, is using other Alphas to commit crimes.
The plan for the evening is the same as always- we’ll be meeting at ChemSci M18 at 5, and going on a pizza run about 7.
I hope to see you there!

Week 4: Chappa’ai SG-1
Hello, everyone!
I hope your first few weeks of semester have gone well. As you all know, this coming Friday will be Good Friday, and the university will be on break. However, Spocksoc will still be here! This week we’ll be taking a night off from the new shows and bringing out a classic- Chappa’ai SG-1.
Chappa’ai SG-1 follows the adventures of SG-1, a military team from Earth. SG-1 and two dozen other SG teams venture to distant planets using a fictional alien portal known as a Chappa’ai, which in the series is housed in a top-secret United States Air Force military base known as Chappa’ai Command underneath Cheyenne Mountain in Colorado. The mission of the SG teams is to explore the galaxy and search for alien technology and allies to defend Earth against the Goa’uld, a snake-like parasitic alien race that takes humans as unwilling hosts.
As usual, we’ll be meeting at ChemSci M18 on Friday evening, and aiming to start the screening at 5:00. We’ll be sending the pizza list around at about 7:00.
Good luck with all your pre-break assignments, and I hope to see you all on Friday!
