Week 4 – Grimm

GrimmHi Everyone!

This week we’ll be exploring Portland’s underworld of mythical creatures in Grimm:

Homicide Detective Nick Burkhardt of the Portland Police Bureau learns he is descended from a line of guardians known as “Grimms,” charged with keeping balance between humanity and the mythological creatures of the world (called “Wesen”). Throughout the episodes, he must battle against an assortment of dangerous creatures, with help from his friend Monroe (a reformed Blutbad), and his partner Detective Hank Griffin.

As always, we’ll be meeting in Macauley at 5pm on Friday, and having a pizza run at around 7pm.

On Friday we will also be holding a bake sale! If you like to bake (or eat) drop by our stall on the Library Walkway. If you have a break and want to help us sell delicious food, email me using Facebook Event.

Week 2 – The Flash

The FlashThis Friday we’ll be starting a new series, the Flash, and venturing to Central city to join the team at Star Labs:
Barry Allen is struck by lighting the same night as Central City’s particle accelerator malfunctions. When he wakes up after nine months in a coma, he discovers he has the ability to move at superhuman speed. Working with the disgraced scientists at Star Labs, Barry apprehends other ‘metahumans’, and protects the residents of Central City.
We’ll be meeting at Macauley Theatre at 5 p.m. and having pizza at around 7 p.m.

Week 1 – The Librarians

Librarian Quest for the SpearHi everyone!

I hope that you’ve enjoyed O-Week! Welcome to our new members for the year, and welcome back for the members that are returning. This week we will be watching ‘The Librarian: Quest for the Spear’ and the beginning of the TV series:
Flynn Carson applies for a job at the Metropolitan Public Library, seeking life experience after an extended university career. He discovers his new job entails protecting historical and magical artifacts in a special section of the library. In the spin-off series, the library’s new Guardian, and three others that applied for Flynn’s position as a Librarian, solve supernatural mysteries and recover magical artifacts.
We will be meeting at 5 p.m. in Macauley Theatre and, having pizza at around 7 p.m.

O-Week – Agent Carter

Agent CarterHi everyone!

I hope you have enjoyed your summer break, and you’re ready for another semester of exciting new shows with Spocksoc! With O-Week coming up, I’d like to invite everyone to drop by our O-Week stall and renew your membership for the year.
This week we will be kicking off our semester with a screening of Marvel’s Agent Carter: After the events of Captain America:The First Avenger, SSR Agent Peggy Carter returns to America to find herself marginalised by her male colleagues. When Howard Stark is framed for treason, Peggy seeks to clear Howard’s name with the help of his butler, Edwin Jarvis.
In order to get through all the episodes, this week we will be meeting at 4 p.m. in Macauley Theatre, We’ll be having pizza at around 7 p.m.

Summer Screening – Battlestar Galactica

Hi everyone!

This week we’ll be running our last summer screening, Battlestar Galactica, to wrap up the break with a modern classic:

After a period of peace between the humans of the twelve colonies and the Cylons, a race of robots that rebelled against their creators, an attack on their home planets forces humans to seek a new home. They search for the thirteenth colony, believed mythical by some, while dealing with the problems that arise from being confined to their ships, evading Cylons, and discovering treachery within.

We will be meeting at Macauley at 5 p.m. with pizza at around 7 p.m.

Movie Night

Hi everyone!

This Friday, Spocksoc will be enjoying some of the best and worst sci-fi and fantasy movies on offer. If you have a particular movie you think fits the bill, bring it in! On the night we’ll decide which are being shown, but our line-up may include:

The Fifth Element (1997)
In fact, this week is packed with events.  This Saturday(14/2/15), we’ll be having our second Avatar: The Last Airbender marathon. Details for both events are on the Facebook page.

Summer Screening – Farscape

FarScapeHi everyone!
This week, join the crew of fugitives on the leviathan transport Moya as we watch Farscape:
An astronaut named John Crichton finds himself transported to a distant part of the universe and almost instantly makes enemies of a Peacekeeper, Captain Crais, and allies with the escaped prisoners aboard the living ship Moya. Now he must get used to life on the alien ship, avoid capture by Crais and determine if it is even possible to find a way back home.
As usual, we will be meeting in Macauley at 5 p.m. and having pizza at around 7 p.m.

Summer Screening – Supernatural

Hello Everyone!

I hope you’ve had a wonderful Christmas, and are enjoying the New Year. This Friday, we will be enjoying some of the top episodes of Supernatural:
Sam and Dean Winchester have been raised into the “family business” – hunting things that go bump in the night. Their exploits range from terrifying to whacky, as they face spirits, demons, angels, tricksters and fangirls. During the search for their missing father, the brothers become caught in a war between good and evil, with the fate of humanity resting in their hands.
We’ll be meeting in Macauley at 5, and having pizza at around 7.
