Week 11: Continuum Season 3

ContinuumThis week, we will be we’ll be starting season 3 of Continuum. For those who have never seen it before:

When a group of rebels convicted as terrorists escapes execution by fleeing from the year 2077 to 2012, Kiera Cameron, a future Vancouver law enforcement officer, is involuntarily transported with them. In order to track them down and keep them from changing the past (and presumably future), Kiera joins the Vancouver Police Department and uses the skills of a young tech expert, Alec Sadler. As always, we will be meeting in Macaulay Theatre at 5pm Friday and doing a pizza run at 7pm.

In other news, Spocksoc is holding a movie outing to see X-Men: Days of Future Past at the Ritz Cinema. The X-Men send Wolverine to the past in a desperate effort to change history and prevent an event that results in doom for both humans and mutants. Week 10: Arrow Season 2

ArrowDon your hoods, grab your bow and apply green eye shadow, for this week Spocksoc returns to Starling City in Arrow.

After five years stranded on an island, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen is found and returned to his family in Starling City. During the day he works to rebuild his life, while at night he hunts down the rich and famous responsible for the violent crime rates under the guise of a hooded vigilante. In the wake of the Undertaking, Oliver struggles to stop all criminals without killing them, even as old enemies and long-lost friends arise to confront him. As always, we will be meeting in Macaulay Theatre at 5pm Friday and doing a pizza run at 7pm.

In other news, Spocksoc will be holding a movie outing to see the latest rendition of Godzilla at the Ritz Cinema. An ancient creature and terrifying force of nature who is let loose on the world and threatens our very existence.

Week 9: Grimm

GrimmOnce again, Spocksoc is holding our usual Friday Night screenings this week with Season 3 of the dark fantasy Grimm

Homicide Detective Nick Burkhardt of the Portland Police Bureau learns he is descended from a line of “guardians” known as “Grimms,” charged with keeping balance between humanity and the mythological creatures (called “Wesen”) of the world. Throughout the episodes, he must battle against an assortment of dangerous creatures, with help from his friend Monroe (who is a reformed creature), and his partner Detective Hank Griffin.

The plan is the same: we will start as 5:00pm at Macaulay Theatre and do a pizza run at 7:00pm.

Week 8: Lost Girl Season 4

Lost GirlHello and welcome back. I hope you have enjoyed you mid-semester break and, unlike me, have had a productive week. To kick off the second half of semester we have season 4 of Lost Girl.

Bo is a succubus who grew up in an adoptive human family, unaware of her non-human nature and of the Fae world. Her succubus powers only become apparent to her when she accidentally killed her first love by draining him of his life energy, an act which forced her to flee her home. In the pilot episode, Bo saves a human girl named Kenzi; the two quickly become friends and Kenzi decides they should team up to create a Fae/Human detective agency. Confronted by the Fae elders with having to choose a side (“Light” or “Dark”), Bo declares herself neutral, deciding to side with humans. As always, we will be meeting in Macaulay Theatre on Friday at 5pm and doing a pizza run at 7pm.

In other news, we have confirmed the time for the Transcendence outing. We will be meeting at the Ritz cinema at 6:30pm for the 6:50 screening.

Mid-Sem Break: Orphan Black

Orphan blackHello again. I hope you are all enjoying Easter and your mid-semester break. Spocksoc will be continuing our normal Friday screenings this week with Orphan Black

The series follows Sarah Manning, a con woman and small-time hustler. She witnesses a bizarre incident- a woman who appears to be her exact twin, committing suicide by jumping in front of a train. She jumps at the chance to steal the woman’s identity and savings, but quickly finds herself drawn into a deeper conspiracy. As always, we will be meeting in Macaulay Theatre on Friday at 5pm and doing a pizza run at 7pm.

In other news, we have confirmed the time for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 outing. We will be meeting at the Ritz cinema at 6pm for the 6:50 screening. Dont forget that we also have a Transcendence outing next week. We will confirm a time when the session times are released, but it will most likely be around 6pm

Week 7: Haven Season 4

HavenHello once again. With uni-break just around the corner, Spocksoc will be continuing our weekly Friday screenings. For Easter Friday this week, we will be showing season 4 of Haven

When FBI Special Agent Audrey Parker (Emily Rose) arrives in the small town of Haven, Maine, on a routine case, she soon finds herself increasingly involved in the return of The Troubles, a plague of supernatural afflictions that occurred in the town at least once before. With an openness to the possibility of the paranormal, she also finds a more personal link in Haven that may lead her to the mother she has never known. the plan will be the same as always: we will start at 5pm in the Macaulay Theatre and do a pizza run at 7

In other news, we have confirmed the time for the Lego Movie outing. We will be meeting at the Ritz cinema at 6pm for the 6:50 screening.

Week 6: Defiance

DefianceSpocksoc is holding another Friday night screening this week, continuing with season 1 of Defiance. Defiance is set in 2046, in the aftermath of a conflict between Earth and a wandering alien species known as the Votans. During the war, the Votan fleet was destroyed, stranding the Votans on Earth and raining down debris and rogue technology which has devastated the planet. The series follows a former Marine, Joshua Nolan, and his adopted Votan daughter as they try to survive in the human-alien border town of Defiance.

Week 5: Agents of Shield

Agents Of ShieldSpocksoc, Assemble!

This week we have the return of Marvel’s Agents of Shield. Following the events of The Avengers, S.H.I.E.L.D. (Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division) sets up a small team, headed by Agent Phil Coulson, to investigate superhuman and supervillain activity. A must-see for any fan of the Marvel universe. As always, we will be meeting in Macaulay Theatre at 5pm and doing a pizza run at 7pm.

Speaking of Marvel, Spocksoc is hosting a movie outing to the Ritz cinema to see Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier. Two years after the Battle of New York, Steve Rodgers is still adjusting to life in the modern world when he is thrown into a dangerous battle against a Soviet agent known only as the Winter Soldier. We cannot confirm a time yet as the screening times have not yet been released, but we can promise that it will be next Monday afternoon. Week 4: Almost Human

Almost HumanIn this week’s Friday Screening, Spocksoc will be doing another new show: Almost Human. In 2048, the uncontrollable evolution of science and technology has caused crime rates to rise an astounding 400%. To combat this, the overwhelmed police force has implemented a new policy: every human police officer is paired up with a lifelike combat-model android. After waking from a 17 month coma, John Kennex is teamed up with one such android against his will, even as he is dealing with a prosthetic leg and memory loss. After he throws his android partner out of a moving van, Kennex is given an android named Dorian, an older model that suffers from its own emotions and insecurities.

As always, we will be meeting in Macaulay Theatre at 5pm and doing a pizza run at 7pm.

Week 3: Once Upon A Time

Once Upon A TimeOnce again Spocksoc will be holding their weekly Friday screenings in Macaulay. This week, we travel to Neverland for season 3 of Once Upon A Time

The story is set in the fictional small town of Storybrooke, Maine. The town is populated by characters from fairy tales, who have been exiled to the real world due to a curse cast by the Evil Queen as part of a revenge plot against Snow White and Prince Charming. Because of the curse, most of the inhabitants of Storybrooke have no memory of their true identities and have been stuck timelessly in Storybrooke for years. After saving the town from Tamara and Greg’s plot to destroy magic, the residents of Storybrooke travel to Neverland to free Henry from their captivity.

As always, we will be meeting in Macaulay Theatre at 5pm and doing a pizza run at 7pm.
