Sleepy-Hollow-TV-Show-InfoWith the Horseman of Midsessions on the loose again, it only seems fitting that we continue our weekly Friday Night screenings with Sleepy Hollow

In the middle of the American Revolutionary War, Ichabod Crane is assigned a secret mission which ends as he beheads the Hessian soldier, the Headless Horseman, even as the horseman kills Crane. Over two hundred years later, the Headless Horseman is raised from his grave by an unknown party. However, with their fates so interwoven, the resurrection of the horseman causes Ichabod Crane to return to life. After the horseman beheads her friend and mentor, Lt Abbie Mills must team up with the old soldier to stop the Headless Horseman. As always, we will start at 5pm in Macaulay and do a pizza run at 7pm

Week 5 – Almost Human

Almost HumanOnce again, Spocksoc will be holding our weekly Friday night screenings. This week, we will be continuing season 1 of Almost Human.

In 2048, the uncontrollable evolution of science and technology has caused crime rates to rise an astounding 400%. To combat this, the overwhelmed police force has implemented a new policy: every human police officer is paired up with a lifelike combat-model android. After waking from a 17 month coma, John Kennex is teamed up with one such android against his will, even as he is dealing with a prosthetic leg and memory loss. After he throws his android partner out of a moving van, Kennex is given an android named Dorian, an older model that suffers from its own emotions and insecurities.

Week 4 – Game of Thrones

Game of ThronesIn this week’s Friday night screening, Spocksoc returns to Westeros for the second half of season 4 of Game of Thrones. For those who need a summary, Game of Thrones is a battle of wits, politics, bloodshed and loyalty between the great houses of Westeros. From the gold of the House Lannister to the ruins of House Stark, from the resurging power of House Targaryen to newly appointed wardens of the north House Bolton, the land is thrown into turmoil in the fires of a war between fire and ice. In the Game of Thrones, you either win or you die. As always, we will be meeting in Macaulay theatre at 5pm and doing a pizza run at 7pm

Week 3 – Warehouse 13

Warehouse 13This week Spocksoc will be continuing our weekly Friday night screenings with Warehouse 13. The series follows U.S. Secret Service Agents Myka Bering and Pete Lattimer when they are assigned to the government’s secret Warehouse 13 for supernatural artefacts. It is located in a barren landscape in South Dakota, and they initially regard the assignment as punishment. As they go about their assignments to retrieve missing artefacts and investigate reports of new ones, they come to understand the importance of what they are doing.
As always, we will be in Macaulay theatre from 5pm and doing a pizza run at 7pm

Week 2: Once Upon A Time

Once Upon A TimeOnce again Spocksoc will be holding our weekly Friday night screening. This week, we return to Neverland with season 3 of Once Upon A Time

The story is set in the fictional small town of Storybrooke, Maine. The town is populated by characters from fairy tales, who have been exiled to the real world due to a curse cast by the Evil Queen as part of a revenge plot against Snow White and Prince Charming. Because of the curse, most of the inhabitants of Storybrooke have no memory of their true identities and have been stuck timelessly in Storybrooke for years. After saving the town from Tamara and Greg’s plot to destroy magic, the residents of Storybrooke travel to Neverland to free Henry from their captivity. As always, we will be meeting in Macaulay Theatre at 5pm and doing a pizza run at 7pm.

Week 1 – Arrow

ArrowWelcome back to uni for semester 2. By now most of you have already begun lectures and homework. Some of you have assignments or got dates for exams. Don’t worry: Spocksoc has also returned with season 2 of Arrow

After five years stranded on an island, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen is found and returned to his family in Starling City. During the day he works to rebuild his life, while at night he hunts down the rich and famous responsible for the violent crime rates under the guise of a hooded vigilante. In the wake of the Undertaking, Oliver struggles to stop all criminals without killing them, even as old enemies and long-lost friends arise to confront him. As always, we will be meeting in Macaulay Theatre at 5pm Friday and doing a pizza run at 7pm.

Winter Screenings: Grimm

GrimmThis week Spocksoc will once again be hosting a Winter Screening for the dark fantasy, Grimm

Homicide Detective Nick Burkhardt of the Portland Police Bureau learns he is descended from a line of “guardians” known as “Grimms,” charged with keeping balance between humanity and the mythological creatures (called “Wesen”) of the world. Throughout the episodes, he must battle against an assortment of dangerous creatures, with help from his friend Monroe (who is a reformed creature), and his partner Detective Hank Griffin.

Winter Screenings: Lost Girl

Lost GirlThis week, Spocksoc will be continuing with our winter break screenings with Lost Girl.

 

Bo is a succubus who grew up in an adoptive human family, unaware of her non-human nature and of the Fae world. Her succubus powers only become apparent to her when she accidentally killed her first love by draining him of his life energy, an act which forced her to flee her home. In the pilot episode, Bo saves a human girl named Kenzi; the two quickly become friends and Kenzi decides they should team up to create a Fae/Human detective agency. Confronted by the Fae elders with having to choose a side (“Light” or “Dark”), Bo declares herself neutral, deciding to side with humans. As always, we will be meeting in Macaulay Theatre on Friday at 5pm and doing a pizza run at 7pm.

Week 13: Game of Thrones

Game of ThronesAs semester draws to a close, Spocksoc will be finishing on a high note: Game of Thrones Season 4. For those who have never seen it before, there is too much to explain properly. A few things you should know:

Daenerys loves dragons
Everyone hates Joffrey

Seems simple enough?

In other news, Spocksoc will be hosting a movie outing to see Edge of Tomorrow. An officer finds himself caught in a time loop in a war with an alien race. His skills increase as he faces the same brutal combat scenarios, and his union with a Special Forces warrior gets him closer and closer to defeating the enemy. Week 12: Helix

HelixAs semester 1 draws to a close, Spocksoc will be continuing our weekly Friday night screening. This week, we start a new show: Helix.

A team of Scientists from the Center of Disease Control and Prevention travel to the Arctic to study a potential outbreak of disease. What they find throws them into a life-and-death situation that could decide the fate of mankind. As always, we will be meeting at 5pm in Macaulay Theatre with a pizza run at 7pm

In other news, Spocksoc will be hosting a movie outing to the the dark fantasy: Maleficent. Maleficent explores the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the 1959 classic Sleeping Beauty and the elements of her betrayal that ultimately turned her pure heart to stone. Driven by revenge and a fierce desire to protect the moors over which she presides, Maleficent cruelly places an irrevocable curse upon the human king’s newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Aurora is caught in the middle of the seething conflict between the forest kingdom she has grown to love and the human kingdom that holds her legacy. Maleficent realizes that Aurora may hold the key to peace in the land and is forced to take drastic actions that will change both worlds forever.
